Theatre Forum, the National Campaign for the Arts (NCFA), the Association of Irish Stage Technicians (AIST) and several of the arts resource organisations are working together to campaign for more sustainable careers for people working in the cultural sector in the post-Covid future.
As in the 2019 Payscales report, Heather Maitland is working with us to collect and analyse the information gathered. We assure you that all individual and company responses are and will remain anonymous. Working with Heather, we will provide information about pay and conditions for freelance artists that you should find useful in your work and making the case for artists’ pay. We’re also compiling a report that lists the salaries, production fees, weekly fees, and hourly rates paid by festivals, production companies, theatres, arts centres and venues for a wide range of jobs across the performing arts. This should enable you to benchmark pay rates against the average and range for a particular role in a specific context.
Deadline to complete 31 May 2021.Â
Individual Payscales survey
Click here if you are answering this survey as an individual.
In this survey, which will take around 20 minutes to complete, we have to ask you some quite personal questions. All your responses will be anonymous and provide us with important evidence to make the case for UBI as well as improved pay and conditions for artists. It will be quicker to complete if you have information about your income in 2019 and 2020 to hand. We would be grateful if you could answer as fully as you can.

We know that our members are under considerable pressure of work at present so have made this survey as concise as possible. It will take you around 20 minutes to complete and will be quicker if you have to hand information about your staff numbers and pay levels at the end of December 2019 and 2020.
