Join the Irish Theatre Green Book Programme – A Path to Sustainable Theatre
The Irish version of the Theatre Green Book, launching in October 2024, provides a roadmap for creating more sustainable productions at every level, from Basic to Net Zero. Developed in collaboration with sustainability experts and theatre professionals, this guidebook is designed to help you reduce your environmental impact while maintaining creative excellence.
Theatre Green Book Training
Performing Arts Forum & Green Arts Initiative in Ireland are delighted to be collaborating with CCI Skillnet to offer a Theatre Green Book training series specifically tailored for Independent Production Companies, Freelance Producers, Production Managers, Freelance Directors, and Designers.
This free online training led by Sinéad Wallace will introduce you to the Theatre Green Book’s principles and practices, helping you transform your productions into more sustainable ones.
Key Programme Highlights:
- Introductory online sessions for Production Companies, Freelance Producers and Production managers to understand the guidelines for sustainable productions and operations.
- Collaborative workshop bringing together production and design creative teams to build a shared vision for sustainable theatre.
- Follow-up clinics in January 2025 to support participants as they embark on their Theatre Green Book journey.
Session 1:
Participants are invited to choose between two tailored online sessions that reflect their practice:
- Production Companies & Producers: November 5th, 10:30 am – 1:00 pm
or - Freelance Directors & Designers: November 12th, 10:30 am – 1:00 pm
Session 2:
Collaborative session where all participants come together to find a shared vision for implementing the Theatre Green Book, November 19th, 10:00 am – 1:00 pm.
After the sessions, participants will have access to follow-up clinics in January 2025 for additional guidance and support on their Theatre Green Book journey.

Additionally, Performing Arts Forum has a limited budget offering €100 stipends to support freelance practitioners attending this training. If you’re a freelance practitioner and wish to apply for one of these stipends, please complete this form.  Please note we have a maximum of 15 stipends available and these will be paid after the training is complete.Â
Sinéad Wallace
Sinéad Wallace is an award-winning freelance lighting designer and teaches Lighting Design on the MFA in Stage Design at The Lir Academy. Sinéad has been working in Sustainable Theatre making for 3 years and has developed The Lir Academy’s Sustainability policy and Action Plan, as well as working as Sustainability Lead for their first two Theatre Green Book productions. She has been certified Carbon Literate by the Carbon Literacy Project and has completed their Train the Trainer programme. She received a Climate Leadership Award from Trinity College in 2024 for her work at The Lir Academy. Sinéad is currently completing Trinity College’s Micro-credential in Climate Leadership.
