Focus Group @ The Gathering

Lighting designers Sarah Jane Shiels, Kevin Smith and Sinéad Wallace presented their findings in their research around how Irish Venues, Technicians and Designers are equipped for the transition from Tungsten Lighting to LED lighting. There were approximately 20 people in attendance, primarily designers and some producers.

The discussion after the presentation centred around how we share information between Venues around purchasing LED fixtures to ensure smooth touring, how venues could liaise with designers in looking to make the transition to LED, the power of communal purchasing and how theatre makers can gain a better understanding of the quality and flexibility of LED fixtures in the Performing Arts sector.

The contributions made by attendees will be included in the final report which will be compiled in the coming months. Thanks to all who took part.
