The Séamus Ennis Arts Centre (TSEAC) is an award-winning performance arts venue, that offers the opportunity to immerse in a diverse range of cultural experiences including, live music performances, cinema, comedy, and cultural events whilst also working to develop the artistic talents of others through our range of workshops and thriving music school.

The Board of the Séamus Ennis Arts Centre invites applications for Maternity Cover for the position of Director.
The Director will report directly to the Board of Management of the Centre.
The position involves the management of all aspects of the Centre and will include the overseeing of planning and programming, managing budgets, finances and all matters relating to staff. It will also involve the development of future plans, ideas and the identifying new funding sources for the future development of the Centre. In addition, the Director will be encouraged to develop the Centre’s capacity to embrace other roles and uses, in keeping with the overall ethos of the Centre.
For the purposes of this position the Arts include: drama, music, theatre, cinema, concerts, poetry, literature, visual arts, crafts, educational outreach, cultural events, and festivals with an emphasis on the Traditional Arts.
The position is offered on a temporary contract to cover the current Director’s maternity leave.
It is an essential requirement for the post that the post holder hold a full clean driving licence and have access to a car.
- The Position
The Director of The Seamus Ennis Arts Centre will be accountable for the following:
•Overall performance, management and day-to-day running of the Seamus Ennis Arts Centre.
•Lead on the delivery of the strategic plan for 2024-2028
•Manage the annual budget in the most effective and efficient manner.
•Ensure the sustainability of the Seamus Ennis Arts Centre by securing funding and sponsorship for future events and activities. - Report to the Board on performance against the Strategic Plan, annual business plan and budget
- Work with the Board, partners, and stakeholders on issues as and when they arise.
- Leadership and management of the staff of the Seamus Ennis Arts Centre.
- Meet development targets as agreed with the Board
- Lead and manage the key functions in the organisation
- Promote the Séamus Ennis Arts Centre amongst its partners, funders and other relevant bodies
The Director shall furthermore be responsible for:
- Devising, developing and implementing multi–disciplinary artistic programmes for the use of the Centre within the agreed budget, in liaison with the Programming Manager
- Ensuring that the property known as the Seamus Ennis Arts Centre is maintained in a fit condition within approved budgets and that a high standard of cleanliness and general repair is maintained
- Ensure proper Insurance cover and Licences are all up to date
- Be informed and comply in a competent manner with all employment legislation and regulations
- Be informed and comply with all relevant Health and Safety legislation to include public and employees and ensure appropriate insurances etc.
- Maintain high ticket sales and revenue streams and identify new /additional sources of funds including philanthropic opportunities
- Represent and promote the Seamus Ennis Arts Centre locally, nationally and internationally (as agreed with or as proposed by the Board of Directors)
- Seek out and develop appropriate short and long term links with relevant Fingal and Greater Dublin organisations/individuals both locally and otherwise with a view to expanding the role and function of the Centre, to expand the audience and drive revenue
- Work collaboratively and effectively with other cultural organisations, including the Arts Council of Ireland
- To develop new and innovative/cost effective marketing, promotional and advertising strategies to encourage the fullest use of the Séamus Ennis Arts Centre in all its forms
- Continue to expand the audience data base, drive ticket sales and establish/perpetuate a working relationship between the audience members, the Director and the employees
The role of Director of The Seamus Ennis Arts Centre requires the following attributes and skills:
- Strong understanding, insight and experience of the traditional arts and folk music landscape at a strategic leadership level.
- Strong leadership, people management and motivational skills
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, influencing and networking skills
- The ability to develop sustainable, mutually beneficial and trusting relationships at senior level in key stakeholder organisations
- Strong commercial acumen and sound business judgement
- Ability to lead and manage people in diverse disciplines, both within the organisation and with other external organisations
