Job Description
Working with two other Shortsโ Programmers and the screening team, the postholder will curate three shorts programmes from submitted films to be shown in the festival in 2026. Programmes must be delivered by 21st November 2025.
Responsibilities
- Draw up a short film selection policy.
- Supervise and assist assigned shorts screeners.
- Secure and organise short films for Dublin International Film Festival.
- Develop criteria for film selection and create and online survey for pre-screeners to evaluate films.
- Organise a database of filmmakers who have submitted films.
- Develop an audience development strategy for selected films.
- Establish selection timeline and track programming budget.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key short film community professionals in Dublin and throughout the world.
- Notify declined film submissions through the FilmFreeway internal email system.
- Confirm and collate all materials, images and text relating to the shorts programmes for festival promotional purposes.
- Host post screening Q&A with filmmakers โ programmers must be available in person during the 2026 festival
- At times, offer content for DIFF blog, social media and website.
Essential skills/Experience
- Extensive film knowledge
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong project management skills
