WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
This workshop invites directors to learn basic tools for navigating the process of consent-based practices in planning, rehearsal, tech and performance to provide ongoing support of actors and their own team while creating Intimate Content for performance in theatre or film. A minimum of two years of professional experience is required to attend this workshop. Applicants should be 18+.
Please note: This workshop is not training to become an intimacy professional but is an introduction to principles that can influence an artist’s current practice.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
- Exploring conditions that support the creation of Intimate Content from audition to performance;
- Principles of consent-based practice;
- Guidance on intimacy breakdown of script;
- Planning for intimacy rehearsals;
- Running closed rehearsals/set;
- Observing and maintaining boundaries during the process;
- Communication structures around staging Intimate Content;
- The role of an Intimacy Coordinator and how can they support your work;
- Intro to choreography of intimacy and movement language;
- Crew briefings; and,
- Closure, deroling and self-care.
Please wear loose clothing as there will be practical work on the floor. There will be no nudity, lip-to-lip contact, or acting of intimate scenes.
If you are based outside Dublin, a limited number of travel bursaries are available to cover the travel costs to attend this workshop.
