Lope de Vega’s Peribáñez is a gripping drama that explores love, lust, justice and honour.
This Spanish Golden Age play tells the story of a young peasant couple, Peribanez and Casilda, whose idyllic rural life is shattered when a powerful nobleman becomes obsessed with Casilda’s beauty. This tragi-comedy captures the tensions between the nobility and peasantry, and the chaos it brings to a community.
This production is our second time working under the Theatre Greenbook Basic Guidelines. Through this, we are working to create more sustainable theatre and training our students to be greener in their practices. You can see more on this in the blog on our last Theatre Greenbook show, Punk Rock, here. This was the first such production in Ireland.
Running time approximately 2.5 hours including interval.
