The weekend workshop is a practical introduction to the core tenets of Stanislavski’s System – the actor’s work on the body, on character, on the text and on stage. Actors will explore the principles of naivety, concentration, relaxation, communion as well as learning to identify the given circumstances, objectives, methods of physical actions, and events of a text to inform the playing of a scene and building a character.

A range of selected contemporary and classical scenes will be provided to give actors a practical experience of the system. This is a practical class and some experience is necessary – be that enthusiastic amateurs or professional actors.

Caroline Byrne completed an MA in Actor Training and Coaching at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, where she got to study at Moscow Arts Theatre as part of her training. She works as an actor trainer and coach at The Actors Centre, East 15, RWCMD, Central School of Speech and Drama and the Lir Academy. She is also a professional director.
